Word templates

Post by jam722 »

I have several Word templates (*.dot) saved in a network folder that I would like to use in OpenOffice. I have added the path to the folder in my template paths. If I select templates and documents off the File > New menu the folders inside my template folder display but my actual dot files do not. Does anyone know why? Thank you.

.dot is not recognized as a template format by OOo. You've to use its native ODF format (.ott for text template). The template concept is specific to each application, that's why it's .dot is only recognized by MS Office. But for this kind of situation, better redo your template from a blank document, else, you may carry bad imported formatting from the .dot conversion.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
