Create a push button in Calc with an external program

Postby Albireo » Wed Sep 25, 2019 9:53 pm

Hope this is not too complicated!

My desire is to create a push button in a spreadsheet with an external program.
When the button is pressed, another program should be opened (perhaps another blank spreadsheet) or perform any equation.

(Or is it only possible to solve this through a macro in Calc)

You may find helpful code in Andrew Pitonyak's macro document
English Macro Document
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 18.04.3 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

As you're on Windows, you can use an external program to control OO using automation.

Edit

I suggest you download MRI, read Pitonyak's books etc if you haven't done so and try and do it from within OO... then transfer it to the external program if you can...

My guess is its unlikely anyone here will be able/willing to run these experiments for you - especially using Autohotkey.

This would very complicated (and bullshit).
Add a custom toolbar to the Calc component with a button calling a macro calling the external program. Or add the button to an existing toolbar. Or add a menu entry. Or add a keyboard shortcut.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
