Plans to upgrade OpenOffice to Python 3?

Post by kiloran »

OpenOffice currently uses Python 2.7 which is going end-of-life early in 2020.

Anybody know if there are plans to upgrade OpenOffice to Python 3?

Almost certainly not. LibreOffice uses Python3 since many years.

Yes, I'm aware of that, and that is what I normally use. However creating macros which work in LibreOffice and OpenOffice is painful due to the different versions of Python. It would be nice to know that OpenOffice will upgrade to allow me to simplify my coding.
