[Solved] Is 10.15 Catalina compatible with OpenOffice?

I have used Open office for many years, mainly for spreadsheets.
Yesterday I installed OS 10.15 Catalina on my I Mac and then tried to open Apache Open Office. Could not do it. All I had was error message .
Please help a non computer savvy 70 yr old.
All my business records are there

The Apple Gatekeeper problem?

The error message came when trying to install the latest Open Office from the official Apache site
I can’t remember the exact message but is was about not loading because Mac could not verify there was no malware

That is Apple Gatekeeper. Try the solution in my earlier post Q05/A05 in the tutorial.

Does not seem to be solved for me

I have a mac and as soon as Catalina was installed when I click open office nothing happens. I had to temporarily download Libreoffice so I could use files. I have performed all the Q/A's I believe properly and even found the code to make gatekeeper make the box appear in settings to allow other app. Any assistance would be immensely appreciated.

Hello,

As I can't launch Open Office directly, I find a solution which works for me : I open directly a document created by Open Office.

There are three possibilities that occur to me: the first is that you have not installed OpenOffice correctly, the second is that you have a bad download, the third is that you have not downloaded the correct version for Mac Catalina.

I am not a Mac user, so can not help further with your problem.

Thanks for the reply. The Catalina was an auto download so not sure there. I had open office already installed and running and probs begun with Catalina.

When I wrote "The correct version for Mac Catalina", I meant the correct version of OpenOffice for Mac Catalina.

I downloaded the 64bit version and don't know if there are any other options. Do you have a link?

There is only one Mac version. Perhaps you could describe exactly what steps you have tried, especially considering the advice in Q05/A05 in [Tutorial] Mac FAQ
