I am using open office on my mac airbook. In recent months the newest versions docx files and the xls files are not opening on my computer
Can anyone suggest how to rectify this?

Are they not opening when you double click them? What happens if you start OpenOffice and use /File /Open, selecting a file of one of those types?

Can you Open and Save files in OO's native formats - .odt and .ods? Do these open using either double click or /File /Open? What happens if you make a simple Calc test file, amd /File /Save as selecting MS Excel 97/2000/XP format? Can you re-open this?
