Can't open documents files in text format

Post by suzanne »

I have an older MacBook and have been using OpenOffice for my word processing. I am unable to open previously saved documents and instead get coding language in the upper left corner which is complete gibberish to me. How can I open my previously saved documents in normal text format? Thanks.

This sounds like you have a corrupted document. If this is happening with all documents, then it is very strange that many documents should get corrupted. Can you post one of the documents here? It has to be smaller the 128 kB. Click Post Reply and then look for the Upload Attachment tab below the box where you type a response.

I have a vague memory that there is some fix for this problem on Macs; I don't think it is caused by corrupted documents. I'd advise waiting for advice from a Mac user.
 Edit: This posting may help.
