Lost spreadsheet

HI everybody,

Yesterday I wanted to continue working on my .ods file when OpenOffice prompted that the file (although listed in recent files) did not exist....The file is not in my trash so where is it??? Please help. I have a MacBook Pro with the latest software (OS X EL Capitan version 10.11.6) and can't find the application support anywhere. Many thanks!

Ciao,
you can use the Spotlight to search for the file. If you do not found it, you can try to look for a backup, if you had it enabled (it is in a hidden folder of the user profile). You turned on Time Machine? you can also look there, eventually.

Thank you Charlie. However spotlight doesn't offer any results. I should look deeper I guess user/library etc but I can not find the application support for open office anywhere on my Mac. Thanks again!

in Mac OSX: Library (visible only with key Alt keep pressed when you make click on Go in the Finder)> Application Support > OpenOffice > 4 > user > Backup

Charlie, did it and found the back up file but it was empty...... That's where it all ends I guess?
