[Solved] OpenOffice crashes on Mac OS Sierra

Post by lininjim28 »

I have worked my way through this thread and applied all suggestions, rebooting and reinstalling. My issue is not with corrupted graphics, what happens is when I choose drawing and click on the blank worksheet the app closes. All the other parts of OO work, just not the one I actually want to use.
When I went to delete my profile there wasn't one.

My machine is iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)

Of course there is - OpenOffice cannot run without it. You just didn't find it - you may need to enable "viewing of hidden files and folders".

Well, I followed the terminal script to show them all, etc, and I have a lot of grey files and folders, but I might need new glasses. I still can't see it.

The user folder is the top folder of the user profile. Rename it to user.old.

New glasses ordered. The app still crashes, however. Now I get a bunch of these.

Then I would rename the latest User Profile, and reinstall OpenOffice.

Okay, tried that. It asked for info again, started up and crashed on mouse click in the drawing app on the blank sheet. I do appreciate your help and patience.

My knowledge of Macs is very limited. If you were using Windows, I would suggest stating in Windows Safe Mode; if OO runs satisfactorily in this mode it indicates interference from some program/driver that runs in Windows normal mode. I am not aware if Macs have a Safe Mode option.

It may help: [Solved] script.xlb and dialog.xlb general error.

Please add '[Solved]' at the beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

I relogged to an "empty" profile and tried it there and it works just fine. It seems my problem is with me and not the app so I can go forward from there. Thank you so much, RoryOF, for your help, much appreciated.
