[Solved] I have Open Office 4.1.3 on a MacAir (OS 10.11.6), and suddenly it does not open OO documents when I double click on the .ods file in the Finder. (I recently updated to 4.1.3, but I'm not sure when this problem began.) Oddly, the info screen for the file says that today’s date and time is the most recent opening!
The only way I can open a file is to locate it from within OO, using the Open menu command.

Apparently I was not clear. The open by finder has worked fine for years, it just stopped now, in the same time frame as I updated the OO to 4.1.3. I checked, and yes, the default for all .ods is set to Open Office.

Re: Can't open .ods file from Finder in v. 4.1.3
This post is now more than a month old, and no one has adequately addressed it! Is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue? So far, no one has seemed to even understand the problem -- they tell me to do baby things like mark .ods type for Open Office opening. Do any senior people monitor this forum? You can try to reset your OpenOffice user profile.
I made a quick search in the forum and there doesn't seem to be similar troubles.
Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

If the problem occurred at the same time as you installed OO 4.1.3, then a profile reset as Hagar suggests seems the logical first step.

There are some suggestions for Finder fixes at

These may be worth trying, regardless of the MacOS version in use.
