OpenOffice converts .ods to zip on emailing auto?

while sending out email and attaching .ods file from my mac , it automatically sends this file at ZIP file, which is not opening on my iphone and other devices???

How do i make sure that it goes as regular .ods file which can be opened on iphone and windows also?

very urgent, as i'm unable to process my work...

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Once you save the file on your other device, can you change the file extension to its original name (.ods)?
It may be a "feature" of the mail server that renames the file extension since in fact, the ODF is based on a zip containing a bunch of files.
Elsen you can try to zip the original file so that the content is not touched by the mail server.

on my iphone device, its not allowing to save it. its also not opening up since it says ZIP???

can it not send this .ods file as it is without converting it to a zip file...

just like sending/receiving any other excel/word document...

i don't know if this is an issue with open office files of mac???

This is an issue with your mailer, not with OpenOffice. You should ask about this on a Mac forum, or change your mailer - I use Sylpheed which is available for Mac; my version (on linux) does not change file extensions.

I use Thunderbird and Apple Mail on my Mac. Neither send .ods or .odt files as zip files.
What email program are you using?
