[Solved] Switching between OpenOffice programs
I'm using Open Office 4.1.2 on a Mac and when I hit command-tab on the keyboard to switch between open programs there is no way for me to choose which Open Office application I want to go to.
There is only the main Open Office icon.
How can I choose to switch to Calc rather than Writer?
I don't know if the same issue happens on the PC, i haven't really used it on the PC that much yet.

Re: Switching between Open Office programs
It is one single program for all types of documents. When you open a text document you get an OpenOffice Writer window, when you open a spreadsheet you get an OpenOffice Calc window. All document windows appear in the Windows menu. When you close all documents except one, the last remaining document window has a second x-button on the far right side besides the menu. After closing this very last document using this button or Cmd+W you reach the start screen which is visible when the program is still running without any document loaded.

So the simple answer you can't so what I'm asking?
Again, I'm not talking about on a PC.I'm using a MAC so there is no additional x on the right-hand side
The mac only has the Red, Yellow and Green circles on the left-hand side.

In OpenOffice itself you can use the Window menu item to switch to any of the running documents.

Re: Switching between Open Office programs
What is the problem? A window with a spreadsheet is a Calc window. A window with a text document is a Writer window. You can switch between them like you would switch between anything else.

Re: Switching between Open Office programs
You can on a PC, but on a MAC if I choose command+Tab to switch applications i don't see the separate Calc window or writer window I just see the main Open Office app and it switches to the las window I had open.
Thanks Steve.

Re: Switching between Open Office programs
Command+Tab switches between open applications. OpenOffice is the application. Writer and Calc are not separate applications, so you will see only OpenOffice and not see Writer or Calc when using Command+Tab. In Windows and Linux, Alt+Tab switches between open windows, not open applications. That's why you see Writer and Calc windows when using Alt+Tab in Windows and Linux.

Depending on version and international (language) settings, cmd-tilde or ctrl-tab may do what you want.

Re: Switching between OpenOffice programs
I have actually found a way to do this. (Switching between Open Office programs)
Command+` works perfectly.
This actually applies to any program that has multiple windows open.
IE: Two separate windows of Chrome will work the same.
