What is the best AOo version for El Capitan?

I have Mac OSX 10.11.5 I now have a new Mac mini with El Capitan. I have used Open Office successfully in earlier versions, probably since 2008. I am reading that Open Office crashes in spreadsheets in El Capitan, so I am wondering what is the best working version for OS X 10.11.5?
Most of what I was reading was for 2015, and now it is 2016!
