[Solved] OO does not open

Hi,

I have MaxOS X 10.10.5. I do not know what OO version I have or how to find it. I have an older version and it completely quit. Will not open at all.
I tried installing a newer version today 2/23/16. I was able to download it.I was able to install it. It did not replace the older version. Now there are two icons in the applications folder.
The install did not fix the problem but now I do get a window that says OO did not shut down correctly last time, would I like to reopen or not. But the program is actually frozen at that point. Thanks for any help!!

Sounds to me like the older version was 3.X (or earlier) and the new version is 4.X
Due to the installation paths it is quite possible to have both 3.X and 4.X versions installed on the same system.
Not having a Mac, I'm not familiar with the installation tracking options, so i'm going to use a Windows based format for suggestions.
1) See if you can uninstall the old version. If you can't tell which version is the old one, just uninstall any version that you can.
2) If that doesn't work, then try Revo Uninstaller. There is a Mac version at http://www.revouninstallermac.com/
3) Reinstall (if necessary) the 4.X version that you downloaded earlier.

Now there are two icons in the applications folder.

Finder → Go → Applications. Then drag the one you don't want to the Trash.

This is a Mac OS X problem, not an OpenOffice/LibreOffice problem, so reinstalling the suite will not solve it.
