Saving in Calc

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using? Neooffice 2.2.4 patch 0
What Operating System (version) are you using?Mac 10.5.4
What is your question or comment? This problem has happened before - after closing the lid on the macbook, and returning some time later, sometimes the next save of my calc spreadsheet (always open) gives an error message "Error saving the document stuff.ods: Write error. The file could not be written." My usual solution is to force quit neooffice, then restart and allow it to recover the spreadsheet. Anyone know what the problem is. It happens only occassionally but is a pain when it does. Thanks

It may be a problem with the temporary files. Can you change the path for the temp folder in Tools>Options>OOo>Paths and put them somewhere in a dedicated folder in your documents?
AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 19.10 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).
