I'm running 10.4.11 on a Mac Pro.
I installed X from the OS X disc today and then I downloaded the file that was offered to me when I went to http://www.openoffice.org/.
OOo_2.4.0_MacOSXIntel_install_en-US.dmg (I also installed the X11SDK).
Moved the icon to the applications folder, watched it copy. unmounted the image.
X is running.
Tried to start by clicking the icon in the Applications folder...
It opens, and there are three things at the top menu, OpenOffice, File and Edit. Nothing else shows up.
About 15 seconds later, it quits.
Someone else posted the same problem but the thread seems a bit skewed overall so I'm am starting my own thread trying to be as clear as possible.
Thank you.

New install: starts, no menu screen, quits
Re: New install: starts, no menu screen, quits
I have similar problem. I downloaded the Mac Intel version onto my MacBook Pro with 10.4, dragged the icon into Applications, and it appeared to install. When I double click on the app, it starts up, but offers only the File and Edit menus, with the only option being Edit Script. It sits there like that for a while, then quits. Suggestions??
