Hey all,
I'm a new user who was looking to use Base as a substitute for MS Access on my Mac OS X system. I attempted to open a .mdb file I had created in Access, but it came up as meaningless characters, and appeared to still be in Writer, not Base, even though I had gone to File>New>Database...open existing database. What am I missing, and is it a conversion issue? (unicode characters vs...)?
Any info would be appreciated,
CS

Re: trouble opening MS Access file in Base
You do not "open" foreign databases in Base, just as you do not open foreign databases in MSAccess. You import them, which makes a subtile difference. Type "open access mdb" into the above search box.
