I've tried opening Oo text documents (.ODT format) on my Mac (MacOS 10.4.11 with Oo 3.0.1) but often end up with the following error message:
/path/Oo filename.odt does not exist
[OK]
With some files the same error message pops up again after having pressed "OK".
With another .ODT file I get a different error message:
The operation on /path/Oo filename.odt was started with an invalid parameter
[OK]
Here I have to press "OK" 3 or 4 times because it keeps popping up repeatedly.
However, for the latter file -If I drag it over to the desktop (it was originally placed within a folder in my "Documents" folder) it opens up fine.
I believe I originally saved the file to the desktop within Oo, then moved it to the folder afterwards.
The latter file problem may seem like something to do with paths.

Re: Can't open files (does not exist/invalid parameter)
What is the full path of the first file?
I've know non alphanumeric characters in the path name to create similar difficulties.

Re: Can't open files (does not exist/invalid parameter)
Interesting.
I took a closer look.
No non-alphanumeric characters have been used, but.... a folder in the path did contain non-English/accented characters. So I renamed it and the file opened!
This must surely be a bug which will hopefully be corrected (unless Oo is only meant for native English speakers)

Re: Can't open files (does not exist/invalid parameter)
Can you tell me which accented/non English character was in the folder name?
I'm wondering if NeoOffice (an independent port/fork of OpenOffice.org) shows the same bug. If I know which character was causing you problems I could test it in NeoOffice.

Re: Can't open files (does not exist/invalid parameter) [SOLVED]
I had the same problem but found a solution. The problem can be solved by changing the formats used in System Preferences / International. I set it to French and now OpenOffice opens and saves files with accented characters in them.
Good luck everybody.
