[Solved] Can't open application after download

Post by henrypaine »

I have downloaded OpenOffice. It shows in my downloads but as a disk icon and not the normal 'birds' for the OpenOffice icon. It will not open after I drag the icon across to my applications folder.

Then check your download using the methods outlined in
Apache OpenOffice - How to verify the integrity of the downloaded file?

or just download once again.

I have downloaded 5 or 6 times. Another notice says warns that the software cannot be opened because it may be malware. I downloaded from the Sourceforge website. OK. It has downloaded correctly into the Apps folder but, when I try to open it, the following message appears:
“OpenOffice.app” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.

Then you need to read Q05/A05 in viewtopic.php?f=74&t=89283

Apple Gatekeeper is preventing your install. The above Q/A should solve your problem.

If this is your first installation, you should know that OpenOffice has a successor which is superior in many respects.
