Unable to open .docx in Writer with AOO 4.1.8

Since the last update to 4.1.8 I have been unable to open .docx documents in Word.

There is a bug in 4.1.8. I would uninstall it and reinstall 4.1.7. A fix to the bug is known and 4.1.9 should be out soon. I think the 4.1.7 installation files you need are here.

I tried that. Did not help unfortunately. I have now installed 4.1.7 and problem is the same...

You could download and try AbiWord.

Strange problems are sometimes fixed by resetting the user profile - see Resetting the user profile.

Try opening this file.

LibreOffice may help but there is a bug with the Retina screens IIRC.

Thanks! I tried to follow the instructions in "resetting the user profile". Managed to identify my userprofile in finder aftar a google search. I cannot, however, figure out, how I can change the name of it.... I cannot click on it as it says in the tutorial. Neither does et help to right-click... Any further advise on how to change the name?
