[Solved] Remove file from Recent Documents list

Post by jsk0207 »

I am running OpenOffice version 4.1.7. on an iMac with macOS Big Sur version 11.1. I deleted a spreadsheet file (not sure how I did that). The file is deleted but still shows up in the drop down menu. I cannot figure out how to eliminate the filename from the drop down menu. I do not need the spreadsheet any more.

As you open other files, that file will scroll off the list. Alternately, use Clear all at bottom of the Recent Documents list, but you will lose the links (note: only the links, not the files) to recent files.

Thanks. That moved it out of the way. One more question, please. How do I delete a file totally in OpenOffice. When I do this, will it take it off the drop down list?

Deleting a file from OpenOffice will not remove it from the Recent Documents list; nor will deleting it from the operating system. It's name will remain on the Recent Documents list until sufficient files have been opened to scroll it off the list, or the list has been cleared.
