For the same OpenOffice version (4.x.x to 4.x.x), no, just install. Read Q03/A03.
For different a OpenOffice version (3.x.x. to 4.x.x), yes, uninstall first. Read Q04/A04.
If you don't want to check the version, uninstall first, since uninstall on Mac takes 30 seconds.
