second time I download this version.
I got the msg in the attached screen shot both times. Yet the OO language pack opens no problem. Using OS 10.7.5
totally new at this.
cheers

Re: Unable to install AOO 4.1.1
Where did you download from?
My best guess is that the download corrupted or didn't finish. You might try using a different browser to download, and make sure you download from openoffice.org.

Re: Unable to install AOO 4.1.1
Many thanks, kabing, for your response.
I downloaded from SourceForge.net to which I was sent when I hit the "Download full installation" link from AOO.
Your "best guess" is what came to my mind as well, thus the second attempt. Now after a third attempt, I am getting the exact same msg.
As to the process you suggested in "this page" link, I'm too dull to do it properly. I've been at it for nearly an hour with no luck. Just don't have the basic skills.
cheers

Issue probably caused by GateKeeper. See the following:

Re: Unable to install AOO 4.1.1
I thought Gatekeeper came into play when trying to open the actual app, not the dmg? And goha is using Lion; Gatekeeper showed up in Mountain Lion, I believe. Or am I missing something?
Goha, in Finder go to the dmg file you downloaded and click on it. Then hit command-I. In the Get Info window that appears, what is the size of the file? When I download it, it is 171.4 MB.
What web browsers have you used to download it?

From Apples page: "Gatekeeper is a new feature in Mountain Lion and OS X Lion v10.7.5 that builds on OS X's existing malware checks to help protect your Mac from malware and misbehaving apps downloaded from the Internet." The default setting for Gatekeeper in OS X Lion v10.7.5 is "Anywhere" but it is worth checking since it could have been changed.kabing wrote:I thought Gatekeeper came into play when trying to open the actual app, not the dmg? I never used Lion but I recall having a similar error message in the past but can't remember what the cause was or how I fixed it.

Re: Unable to install AOO 4.1.1
Larry and kabing:
a kind thanks for your responses. attached is another screen shot. the file downloaded at nearly 97MB. that's for all three downloads. that means that kabing's download is much different from mine, although, once again, language pack downloaded fine from same source.
Q: am i wasting my/your time on this? i'm looking for a good word processor that supports arabic. word has caused many headaches; text edit very limited. any alternatives i can try? that's a long shot question i suppose.
thanks kindly again, from cairo

Re: Unable to install AOO 4.1.1
Since you are downloading the very same OO dmg that I am (Mac/en-US), it looks like your download is not completing. The language packs are smaller, so my guess is that something is timing out/shutting down before the download is complete.
You haven't answered my question about which browsers you have tried to download with. (e.g. Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.)
There are a couple of ways to go from here:
-If you are willing to try using a more "tech geek" approach I can walk you through using a command called cURL in the Terminal application that can resume a download if it doesn't complete
-You could see if Libre Office (www.libreoffice.org) will download for you, like OpenOffice it is free and open source, and based on the same code.
-If you are willing to pay for something, you could try NeoOffice from the Mac App store. This is the port of OO that I use on a regular basis, although I don't work with Arabic.
-another pay option, although not open source, is Mellel. It is designed from the ground up to handle RTL languages like Arabic and Hebrew, and comes highly recommended in the forums of the Bible software I use. It is available both in the Mac App store (at least in the US) and for direct download. (It appears that there is a free trial period if you download directly from their site)
