[Solved] Find dialog always loses focus

Post by triplemaya »

Every time I get to the end of a doc and the 'do you want to start from the beginning ... ' dialog pops up, it does not have the focus. I have to click on it. This is very frustrating if I am doing lots of searches on related documents as I have to keep getting hand to mouse etc.
I am using Ubuntu Mate 16 lts with all standard install.

This is one of the many problems with Apache OpenOffice on Linux (well, on my Ubuntu systems at least). Wheezy comes with LibreOffice. You better use the LibreOffice from ppa or some recent version from downloaded debs.

Thanks for the quick response.
Libre is no good to me at all. No text margins, have to repeat search term in each new window, keyboard shortcuts my brain is wired to are all different ... I could go on!
Not clear what you mean by downloaded debs. From where? I assume not Apache as I think this is where I got what I have. Any recommendations?

For a Linux Version of LibreOffice go to https://www.libreoffice.org/ . Assuming you download and install it to get text Boundaries go to View Text Boundaries. Margins are set in the Paragraph Style you are using in Both Aoo and LibreOffice.

I mean, recent Debian packages of LibreOffice can be downloaded from https://libreoffice.org/ but the one shipped with your distro migh be just fine.

No, not true if you use the full blown search dialog (Ctrl+H)

it is customizable, for instance Ctrl+F for the full blown search dialog which reports "Search key not found" on the dialog instead of another dialog

Hitting ALT+TAB works for me with AOO 4.1.6 on Manjaro.
