Out of bounds error
Out of bounds error
Am constantly getting this annoying error every time I try to edit an existing text file.
The moment I click anywhere in the document, this error pops up:
[img]file:///home/bumpy/Desktop/Pictures/ForumPics/index%20out%20of%20bounds.png[/img]
I click OK & the document closes.
How can I correct this?

Re: out of bounds error
What has changed compared to your former topic: [Solved] Cannot edit any existing OpenOffice document?
Note that you need to upload the file, the img tag works only for online files.

Re: Out of bounds error
Using Synaptic, I totally uninstalled Open Office- then after reboot, re-installed. Still getting this same message with every doc I open. Open Office is totally useless at the moment.
Any ideas how to solve this dilemma?

Re: Out of bounds error
To "unsolve" a topic, just remove the tag and the green icon in the first post of the topic and post your update as a new post in that same topic.
But back to your issue, had you made some progress with the topics linked to the error message?

Re: Out of bounds error
The only "progress" is that the "out of bounds" error only occurs when the document contains a screen shot, or on adding a screenshot. Have previously created many documents containing screenshots, with no trouble.

Re: Out of bounds error
Have you downloaded and installed any extension to assist with the screenshots? If so, check that such extensions work with OO 4, as errors similar to this seem to originate from using extensions for OO3 with OO4.

Re: Out of bounds error
How do I determine what extensions I currently use & where to obtain OO 4 if needed?

How are you inserting the pictures into the document?

Re: Out of bounds error
If you save the pic first with a picture manager (The Gimp for example), and then Insert>Picture>From file, is it better?

Re: Out of bounds error
I am fairly sure you are using OO 4.1.1. /Help /About will tell you for certain. Extensions installed are shown in /Tools /Extension Manager.

Sorry for the ignorance, but where can I find /Help /About?
For sure I do have Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1

Re: Out of bounds error
/Help is on the main menu in OpenOffice at the far right. /Tools is two or three places to the left of /Help

Re: Out of bounds error
For me, the Help menu is the last one on the right at the top of the document, no matter which part of OO I'm using.
In Windows I can also use Alt+H for Help
After that I can use Alt+b for About OpenOffice
