Hello guys,
I have installed Oracle ECM 11.1.1.8, and OpenOffice 4.0.1 on a Red Hat 6.5.
OpenOffice is crashing when the IBR is submitting the document. I receive the following stack trace:
Fatal exception: Signal 6

OpenOffice crashing converting PDF Files
OpenOffice 4.1
Re: OpenOffice crashing converting PDF Files
That's a lot of details that you list here. But still some crucial information is missing:
You say converting, but you do not clearly specify the direction. Are you trying to convert to PDF format or from PDF format into .odt or .odp files?
The conversion from PDF to OpenOffice's own format (more commonly known as "Pdf Import") is not supported by the core application, but you need an extension (Oracle PDF Import Extension) for this.
You don't give us the version of this extension ... which is even more important, as the first sentence on the download page of this extension is:

Due to the fact that PDF is a descendant of a page description language for printers (PostScript) and OpenOffice documents are structured XML documents, importing (read-only) PDF files into editable .odt files is a very difficult task. It might work for documents of up to 4 or 5 pages, but anything beyond that is likely to fail or to not produce what you expect.http://extensions.openoffice.org wrote:If you are using Apache OpenOffice 4.0 or later, you must use another version: PDF Import for Apache OpenOffice.

There are several macro languages in OOo, but none of them is called Visual Basic or VB(A)! Please call it OOo Basic, Star Basic or simply Basic.

One thing that i forgot to mention is that i editted main.xcd file to change
From:
<prop oor:name="SelectPdfVersion" oor:type="xs:int"><value>0</value></prop>
To:
<prop oor:name="SelectPdfVersion" oor:type="xs:int"><value>1</value></prop>
All other settings are default.

Re: OpenOffice crashing converting PDF Files
So this is obviously not caused by an extension, because exporting to pdf is integrated into the core of OpenOffice.
I would suggest you place a bug report for the developers (Reporting bugs or suggestions) or maybe for your Linux distribution. At least you should make sure that RedHat hasn't changed or patched the OpenOffice version. Additionally you will need to describe your environment:

- What is IBR?
- Your phrase submitting the document sounds a bit like a web application. In a desktop environment you would typically use saving the document. Are you running a server in headless mode? What is the effective user of the daemon process?
- Do you get the same core dump if you export manually through the GUI (as everybody else does it)?
