I am having the same problem as this:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... piz#p28416
When I open writer, it opens up in full screen (no task bars or anything) I have to go to full screen then exit full screen to even be able to get to other windows. It is very annoying and slows me down greatly when I am doing school work. I tried the fix that worked on the other post to no help. I just moved over from vista about 1 month ago to unbunto 8 and am using OO 2.4
Since I am so new, I am do not know much (nearly nothing) about the terminal and the commands there. I saw there is compiz settings but am not sure how to find/change those. Any help would be appreciated! It worked at the beginning, but suddenly changed and i dont recall installing anything new that would change it.

It seems that this version of OOo is very bad again in Ubuntu. You should try the official one: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.
