Installing OpenOffice 4.0.0

Can anyone tell me how to install OpenOffice 4.0.0, with simple easy to follow instructions?
I have downloaded the files and clicked on them a bit but nothing seems to happen.
Any guidance I have found on the internet is full of jargon, I don't understand a word of it.
Why is it so difficult to put OpenOffice on my computer? I am running Mint 15 Cinnamon.
