Issues with installing under all Linux Distributions

OpenOffice won't install

Postby sharpertongue » Sat Aug 31, 2013 5:09 am

Hi.

I visited the download page on http://www.openoffice.org/ and downloaded the most recent version for my system which was OpenOffice 4.0 for Linux 32-bit (RPM). Then I followed the Linux RPM-based Installation instructions from http://www.openoffice.org/download/comm ... tions.html but wasn't able to install.
After doing cd to the RPMS subdirectory I entered the command rpm -Uvih *rpm but this was the output:
bash: rpm: command not found

Help please?

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

If you're using Ubuntu Linux, you need the .deb package(s): Ubuntu doesn't use rpm.

See [Tutorial] Installing Apache OpenOffice on GNU/Linux or [Ubuntu] Installing OpenOffice on Debian and Co.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.
AOO 4.1.5 on Xubuntu 18.04 and on Windows 7 (with winPenPack port).
