Hello nice OpenOffice folx

I have Ubuntu and OpenOffice installed on my ancient but facelifted Panasonic Toughbook CF 48. Open Office installed nicely at first, and I get all the updates over the web, but at some point since the original install, Base disappeared. But now, when I pull down my Applications>Office menu, I have Dictionary, Evolution, Presentation, Spreadsheet, and Word Processor, but no Database. When I'm in Spreadsheet and I pick "New" from the File menu, options are Text Document, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Drawing, HTML Document, XML Form Document, Master Document, Formula, Labels, Business Cards, Templates and Documents. No database.

What has happened? How do I get Base back? I need it to test an oobasic macro I wanna write.

As far as I remember, Base is not installed by default from the Ubuntu 10.04 repositories. You have to select and install it separately. Alternately, you can remove the Ubuntu distribution of OpenOffice, (use Synaptic, remove openoffice-core, instructions from memory so may not be exact) download Apache OpenOffice 3.4.1 from http://www.openoffice.org and install it using the method set out in tutorial
