Hi,
A bit of a taxing problem, here. I am running OO 3.2 on a netbook with a small screen, which means that I can't get access to the second dialogue box that I'm about to describe to you.
For essays, I need to be able to do a bibliography. I check google, and get http://www.tutorialsforopenoffice.org/t ... phies.html, which appears massively complicated, but I decide to give it a try.
Fire up OO, and then for some reason, it asks me if I want to recover a document. OK, I don't recall losing one, but why not? I click yes, get a blank Writer document, and then do Tools - Bibliography. I then get the second dialogue box asking me if I want to recover a 'no name' document. If I hit ENTER, OO crashes. If I hit ESC, OO crashes. I can't get past that.
Can someone help?
Thanks.

Thanks for that. I tried the solutions suggested at that link. First of all, deleted my $HOME/.openoffice.org and then restarted OOo.
Same problem.
I'm not skilled enough to know whether I have 32 or 64 bit Ubuntu running. However, if I look at the version of Java in OOo, I see '1.6.0_20', and FYI...

You're running a 32bit system.
On a 64bit system, you would had something like

Seems so indeed.
Try the vanilla version perhaps: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.
