hi, all
I can use openoffice command
soffice2.4.0 -invisible -headless in redhat4(linux-2.6.9):
openoffice will run in the background, not popup window.
but in redhat5(linux-2.6.18), same command, system will popup openoffice window.
why so? it's office issue or linux issue?
thanks

Re: can't use headless

Re: can't use headless
our IT department do these works, I can't make sure, we only use it in our perl script.
openoffice 2.44
Re: can't use headless
The reason I ask is that each distro makes some changes, for security reasons, that are not in the original OOo version. When Redhat was updated there could have been a change that broke the operation. Others here maybe of more help but that will be in the morning.

Re: can't use headless
thanks, therabi, I have sent mail to our IT deparment for help.
you mean if we want to use headless, we must install its package, and in the default installment, there is no headless mode?
right?

Re: can't use headless
I am not saying that you have to install anything. From your indications you were using 2.44 before the Redhat changes. Your still using 2.44 so something was broken. If 2.44 is from the Redhat repositories the Radhat needs to fix the problem. If not then Redhat changed something in the operating system that broke OOo. I have never had the need to use the headless mode but I have seen references about it. But OOo in the original form does support the headless mode. As I said in the morning there will be people on here that can help a lot better then I can. The question I ask was to have information that will be need for them.
