I downloaded libre office for 64bit ubuntu 10.10 rc and all i get is a bunch of rpm files? wtf how do i install it

Then, you downloaded the wrong version. You need to download the "deb" tarball

AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).
