[Solved] OOo fails to start (openSUSE 11.3)

Post by MrSolar »

I have done some updates (of other software) and some deletes and now my openoffice applications do not run anymore

Code: Select all

heinrich # ooffice
OpenOffice.org(23164): Session bus not found

KCrash: Application 'soffice.bin' crashing...
sock_file=/root/.kde4/socket-soltec10.soltec.com.na/kdeinit4__0
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
soltec10:/home/heinrich # drkonqi(23166): Session bus not found
or

Code: Select all

:~> ooffice
heinrich@soltec10:~> QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
X-Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
        Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)
        Resource ID: 0x0
        Serial No: 466 (466)
These errors are reported asynchronously,
guess I delete or updated a critical library, but do not know which.

Have tried to do an update of openoffice, but to no avail ?

Please, if you know whats going on!

Thanks! Heinrich

Hi and welcome to the forum!

What kind of deletes have you done? Have you used your package manager?

Check that there is no broken dependency. You can also try to install the vanilla version instead of the version of your distro (different from the Oracle/Sun version).

Hagar, Thanks for your reply!
I have used YAST which should have taken care of dependencies.
: /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.3/
had tried to install LEMONPOS realized it was an old version, deleted it and reinstalled a newer one, had to find some libraries in an additional attempt, which caused a repository change, but thought I never tried to break any dependency shown.

What is the vanilla version ?

The vanilla version is the version you download on the OOo web site (see link at bottom of page).

See here for example (just adapt the command lines): [Solved] Installing OOo beta in Opensuse 11.
