Does anyone know of a fix or upgrade to OO 3.2 that will stop the freezing of Open Office? Lately all my OO screens go gray and sometimes return and sometimes it just locks up and will not continue. Many times I have lost work. Is it OO or could it be Ubuntu??
Thanks for your help.

Close OOo and move the user profile ~/.openoffice.org/
A new one will be created from scratch.
If this does not change the situation I'd recommend the latest version from http://download.openoffice.org

If a new profile improves the situation you can copy back most of the subdirectories from the old profile to the new one. Subdirectory "registry" keeps the global settings as set in Tools>Options.
Subdirectory "uno_packages" keeps the installed extensions. Some extensions may add strange problems and instabilities.

If you want to upgrade to 3.2.1, see [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.

I have the same problem of OO freezing and greying out. I'd been using Open Office happily for two or three years until this started 6 weeks or so ago. I have since tried uninstalling, and downloading a new copy, which didn't help. I imagine I have some kind of conflict issue, but don't know where to look. I would like to try the suggestion of moving the user profile, but don't know how. Can you explain please? Thank you.

Pental, read through this tutorial, especially the part on renaming your user profile.

For future reference, it is best to start a fresh thread for your query rather than tag onto the end of an old one.

Ok thanks, I thought I was avoiding duplicating. I'll check out that tutorial now. Thanks again.
