Probable bug in UserInterface under Linux

Postby LordIllidan » Wed Jan 09, 2008 12:04 am

Hi, I was not sure where to post this..I'm not even sure if it's a bug.

To test..it's quite simple: Fire up OpenOffice, go to the Draw Toolbar, select something like Flowchart, and in the popup dialog, you should notice that the buttons remain pressed after a mouseover. The results should look like this : http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/d803bb93bd.png

Am I the only one who is noticing it, and is it a bug? And if so, has it been reported/where can I report it?

I can't reproduce that.
Perhaps installing the official version instead of the Fedora one could improve the situation.

BTW, Please read the Survival Guide for the forum. Don't forget to give your configuration : OOo from your distro or official version ?

NB: moved the thread to the Linux forum.

Hi, thanks for your prompt reply. I am using the version provided with Fedora..but I also noticed this problem on Ubuntu. More specifically, I am using OpenOffice.org 2.3.0-6.7.fc8
EDIT : I will try and see if the official version also has this problem.

Same here: the Fedora OOo shows the problem; the OO.org build does not.

Ok, I removed the Fedora installation, installed the official OpenOffice, but the problem still shows up.

Ack! Quite right. It's there in mine also. I thought I was looking at the right one, but I must've been running the OO.org developer snapshot.

I've double-checked all three now:
openoffice.org-2.3.0-6.7.fc8 (Fedora package) -- affected
OpenOffice.org 2.3.1 (OO.org package) -- affected
openoffice.orgSRC680_m241 (dev snapshot) -- NOT affected

The glitch affects all the pop-up toolbars I tested, in any OOo application, but it doesn't affect the operation of the toolbar, as far as I can tell.

Sorry for the confusion.

Just for the record, yes, I've the same problem !
I've been misled by the screenshot and thought that you were saying that the main button was being kept pressed.

For a better understanding, just post the needed area :

Thanks for the confirmation, and sorry for not making sense in the original post. I know it does not affect the operation of the toolbar, but it looks wierd.
So the developer build is free of this bug, then?

Yes. Running the m241 snapshot, I don't see this problem.

I use those pop-up toolbars fairly often, and never saw the problem until you mentioned it, so I'm fairly sure that it wasn't present in versions prior to 2.3.0.

If you want to file a report, it might be a good step, just to be sure a developer knows about it.
