Often such a query suggests that in the installation, the user has omitted the final part, which is in the unpacked installation files to change to folder "desktop-integration" and once again run "sudo dpkg -i *.deb". This places links to the OpenOffice components in the Office entry on the menus.

On my Xubuntu 20.04.2 system the query "which openoffice4" replies "/usr/bin/openoffice4", which in turn points to "/opt/openoffice4/program/soffice"

If you want to keep LibreOffice as primary office suite (having the file type associations) and OpenOffice as secondary suite, it is better to not install OpenOffice's desktop integration package and use a symlink or some other self made shortcut to /opt/openoffice4/program/soffice or soffice.bin. This opens the welcome screen. You can open files by dragging them into the welcome screenn or via File>Open...

Linux is a generic word and derivated for many distros.

To install, you can set and use an (unofficial) repo here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/apache ... es/debian/
