Post by bcripps »

I just require OO Writer. Do I have to install the complete office suite in Linux Mint?
Thanks...
Bry

Yes - it is an integrated suite.

AbiWord may do all you need.

You don't need to install anything at all. Linux Mint comes with LibreOffice preinstalled. LO is the actively developed successor to OpenOffice.

Thanks Rory, not really a problem just like to keep a lean machine. Not really fond of Libre, Villeroy. I am plagued by "Document Recover" and the spell checker is slow to respond. I've experimented with AbiWord and most if not all of the others and nothing meets my expectations like OpenOffice does.
Thanks again,
Bry

Solve the problem with LibreOffice. Simply click [Cancel] on the recovery dialog. OpenOffice has the exact same problem when a crashed file can not be recoverd, for instance if the file does not even exist anymore.

If you regularly get a "Document Recovery" message for different documents, then you need to review your method of closing documents and Open- or Linre-Office.

Close a document?
I click on the X in the upper right then hit Save. Works fine in OpenOffice...
