[SOLVED] Dependency problem installing on Mint 18.1

i tried to install from the .deb file in linuxmint 18.1. I get error message : Dependency is not satisfiable: openoffice-ure

whatever that means... how do i fix it?
 Edit: Subject changed to better describe problem; was can't install openoffice

Thanks for your response. did a search again, found another user with same problem who solved it. so i did what he did and it solved my problem too.

In fact, the fix is: sudo apt purge libreoffice*
It is one of the first commands described in the tutorial.
LibreOffice 7.6.2.1 on Xubuntu 23.10 and 7.6.4.1 portable on Windows 10

For completeness, I note that Villeroy says
In order to install AOO as primary suite while keeping LO you perform the last step like this:

Code: Select all

cd desktop-integration
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite *.deb
which renders the

Code: Select all

sudo apt purge libreoffice*

line unnecessary

My own feeling is that one should concentrate on using one or other program, not be switching between the two. I remain with OpenOffice as its facilities and stability are suitable for my needs; your choice may differ.
