Setting the default program for MS Office formats

I have tried the tutorial but cant set the default to open as Open Office. Also could not find odt as a default setting. Using windows 10 on a HP Pavillion laptop that is 1 year old. Karl

As you are using Windows 10, also check the information in Problems with Windows Defender under Windows 10
OpenOffice 4.1.7, LibreOffice 7.0.1.2 on Windows 7 Pro, Ultimate & Windows 10 Home (2004)
