Double installation

Because my desktop icon had disappeared I misread that I had to re install Open Office. I have now got two Open Office icons on my desktop each pointing to a different version of Open Office, 4.1.5 and 4.1.6. Can I safely delete 4.1.5 without losing all the data in 4.1.6 ?. Thankyou.

Your documents are totally independent of the application.

And your desktop icons are only links to your applications. You will only have one version of OpenOffice installed; you can delete the desktop icon for the other version. In fact , both links will point to the current installation.
