Writer is saving document with wrong date

Post by jekndi »

I just created a couple documents in Writer with .doc file extension and both were save as 11/10/2000. Today is 4/29/2019.
Any ideas how to solve?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

This is rather an operating system issue.
If you create a file with another application (say Notepad for example), does it get the correct date?

The operating system saves documents and adds the date. Have you enabled the operating system option to automatically synchronize the clock with an NTP server?

Losing track of the correct date can be an indication that the CMOS battery on the motherboard needs to be replaced.

Strangely enough, I am having the same problem.
I have a relatively new system and other files and folders save with the correct date. However, somehow my .odt files save as a completely different date and time. As an example, I save an .odt at 6:35pm on 30/03/2022 and it displays as 31/03/2022 4:31am.
I am GMT+10 and everything else on the computer displays and saves fine.
