[Solved] Installing failed, help please.

Hi there

I have tried a few times to download Open Office but it won't install. I get the error shown in the attachment.
Any ideas please?

Hi,

• Is Quickstarter still running while you are installing new version? (It must be shut down.)
• Have you been starting installation as administrator? (Probably missing rights as a regular user.)

I don't know what quickstarter is. Tried all ways to install, no joy.

The screenshot suggests to me that the user does not have rights to install the program to the desired location. I suggest he tries right clicking on the install file and choosing "Run as Administrator" from the popup.

"Error opening the file for Writing" is a permissions problem of some type. An operating system problem? Are you installing to the C: drive?

I thought I was. I don’t have another drive.

OK that settles that problem - installing OO to another drive requires adjustment in the install process. How much space have you free on your hard drive?

I just downloaded the installation pack again and carefully followed the suggestions above. Seems good so far. Only one error message about creating the desktop shortcut.
Yay! All good now. Installed. Opened, edited and saved a file.
