[Solved] OpenOffice 4.1.6
I've tried to install the above update several times. During installation I receive a message "Please exit OpenOffice 4.1.6 and quickstarter before you continue. Although these are not running, when I click on OK, the installation shuts down. Any ideas?

Can you confirm that there are no soffice processes running when you look on the Task Manager. To bring up the Task Manager, press CTRL Shift ESC. I think the tab you want is called Processes, it has been a long time since I used Windows 7. If there are any soffice processes, kill them and then try the installation.

No, I checked Task Manager and there was only Firefox and email running

Re: OpenOffice 4.1.6
Note that the processes involved are soffice processes (initial lowercase S); on TaskManager there should be an option to "show processes for all users" (words to that effect); please check that when you select this option there are no hitherto concealed processes, perhaps at an admin level.

Re: OpenOffice 4.1.6
there are quite a few running under processes and I'll check through them. What are soffice processes?

Re: OpenOffice 4.1.6
soffice processes are processes called (guess what?) soffice and they are the internal name used by OpenOffice (historical reasons for this). Kill all of them, then try a fresh install.
