[Solved] scalc.exe - Application Error

Post by Ravengrill »

Using OpenOffice 3.1 on Windows XP. Any attempt to open a OpenOffice spreadsheet (or word document) results in 'scalc.exe - Application Error' or 'swriter.exe - Application error' "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000009c). Click on OK to terminate application". All other computer programs and functions are behaving normally.

You may have better luck getting an answer on a Windows XP forum. A Google search for the error message does find similar errors using other programs, so it's not specifically an OpenOffice problem.

You may have a hard time finding a Windows XP forum, so a couple of other options that I thought of are:
1) Due a Repair of the OpenOffice installation or uninstall it and install a more up-to-date version (currently 4.1.5 is the most up-to-date version for Windows)
2) Check your Windows Integrity from (if I recall correctly) the Windows Control Panel.
