Windows 10, OpenOffice 4.1.5
OO tries to recover older documents each time it opens. After reviewing posts on recovery, looks like the easiest way is to hit Cancel, and then open the docs I really WANT opened.
Current problem is recovery is stuck trying to open an Excel workbook that it has never been able to open. Unfortunately, I can't tell it to quit trying. I can't close the monolog box by hitting X. I tried to force close, but as soon as computer was operating again, the same OO monolog box (Recovery in Progress) reappeared, with no further progress. Problem is I can't open ANYTHING in OO while it's still hung up.

Re: Recovery problem compunded by OO cannot open an Excel wo
When I submitted my question, I was in tears at not being able to open anything. My husband came home and said, hit Task Manager and End Task.
OO closed, I reopened it, and when it asked if I wanted to recover those 3 docs, I hit Cancel as many of you had suggested when I searched Recovery. Worked like a charm!
