Hi there.
Uninstalled OpenOffice, but broken shortcuts are left.
Nothing happens if to left-click or right-click on them.
I tried to rebuild start menu index (control panel -> indexing options), tried to run disk cleanup but no success.
How to fix that?

Re: Broken shortcuts in start menu after uninstalling OpenOf
Since the Start Menu is managed by Windows 10, this is more of a question for a Windows forum. As far as I can remember, Indexing Options are options for Windows Search and have nothing to do with the Start Menu. Have you tried restarting the computer?

This issue is only happens with Open Office, so i don't think it's a Windows bug.

OK, that is the correct way. You may need to clean the Windows registry with CCleaner or similar.

I tried CCleaner (registry cleaner and file & apps cleaner) - no changes.RoryOF wrote:OK, that is the correct way. You may need to clean the Windows registry with CCleaner or similar.

I didn't say it was a Windows bug, but Windows controls the context menu that should appear when you right-click a shortcut on the Start Menu. OpenOffice has no control over the context menus. If the context menu isn't appearing, then it's a Windows problem, not an OpenOffice problem. I uninstalled OpenOffice many times when I was using Windows 10 and never saw this problem. A quick Google search did turn up some topics on Window forums about removing broken/dead shortcuts from the Start Menu.modaneet wrote:Yes, i restarted 3-4 times - no changes.Bill wrote:Since the Start Menu is managed by Windows 10, this is more of a question for a Windows forum. I just remembered something that might remove the shortcuts from the Start Menu. I no longer have Windows 10 and I can't check to see if it works, so use it at your own risk.
Open File Explorer and type %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs in the Address Bar (not the Search Box) and press Enter. That should open the folder that contains the shortcuts for the Start Menu. If the OpenOffice shortcuts are still in this folder, delete them. IIRC that should also remove the shortcuts from the Start Menu.
