OpenOffice Crashing

While working on a document or spreadsheet, and even when the opening window of OpenOffice is up, OpenOffice will suddenly close with a recovery window opening up which starts out by saying, "Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice crashed." Please explain and instruct how to correct OpenOffice from crashing.

You probably need to reset your user profile. First, shutdown OpenOffice. Open any folder and in the address bar near the top enter
%appdata%\openoffice\4
That should take you to a folder containing a folder name user. Rename that folder to user_old and restart OpenOffice. You should get the user registration screen. Is OpenOffice stable now?
