[Solved] Multiple crashes
[Solved] Multiple crashes
I'm using 4.1.5 and yesterday when I opened a spreadsheet, within a minute it crashed; I recovered it and within a minute it crashed again; and then it happened again. Today I went through 4 crashes less than a minute apart. Then after the crashes were through, everything operated normally. By the way it crashed whether or not I made any entries in the sheet. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Re: multiple crashes
1. File > New > Spreadsheet
2. Put some calculations in it.
3. Save.
4. Open the file.
Does it crash? If not, it is probably the first file is corrupted. If so
1. File > New > Spreadsheet
2. Insert > Sheet from file ..., and pull in the first file. Repeat for all sheets.
3. Save.

Re: multiple crashes
As stated, after the crashes, the sheet works normally. That would seem to indicate the file is not corrupted. Or can the same file be corrupted and fixed multiple times in the same day without any action on my part?

Re: multiple crashes
Are the crashes with just the one particular spreadsheet or with all spreadsheets?

Re: multiple crashes
Every day I work with a package of from 3 to 9 spreadsheets. When one crashes they all crash. The only thing I need to do prior to the crash is select a cell in a sheet -- I don't have to enter anything prior to the crash, but if I do make an entry (I only have time for 1 entry) it doesn't stop the crash. After the 3 or 4 crashes, the sheets work as they should.

Re: multiple crashes
Try starting Windows in Safe Mode. If the crashes cease when you run in that mode, the problem is caused by some program or driver which runs only in Windows Normal Mode; you then need to identify that.

Re: multiple crashes
Is it always the same file, say fred.ods, causing the crashing?
What happens if, without opening fred.ods, you open other files?

Re: Multiple crashes
It appears the problem has fixed itself, I've gone 2 days now with no crashes, but I'll keep in mind what you have said should it happen again.
