I am trying to use OpenOffice 4.1.3. (can't use 4.1.5. as I require Nuance's Dragon Dictation Software) and simply require Java to use the OpenOffice Database under Writer.
Tried all the basic install aid files for W10 and even switched to Internet Explorer as the only option left after triple-cleaning out any old installs and the only returns are error codes - last being 1618.
I'd really like to dump Java - it does have a terrible and dangerous reputation, but OpenOffice demands it for a simple Database operation.
All suggestions welcome as to a way to have a simple indexed database (Inventory prog) in W10......
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Installing JAVA on W10 OpenOffice
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Have you installed the 32bit version of Java? AOO doesn't recognize the 64bit version that may be installed by default on your machine.
Else, I've only found that topic mentioning the error 1618: OpenOffice 4.1.3 won't install.
Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
