Ever since I installed Open Office 4.1.5 on my newly updated Win 10 (on HP g series Pavillion Laptop) with Synaptics touchpad .... my touchpad very unresponsive to clicks, drags, etc....and the problem seems to only occur when I have launched Open Office. My touchpad driver is the latest version. I have disabled all the advanced touchpad settings (because this touchpad was not designed to use advanced settings like two-finger click, etc.).
The problem is extremely frustrating. Maybe Windows has intentionally caused this, because it would make one not use Open Office, and probably then have to purchase MS Office.
Please help...I am almost out of patience with this problem.

The first thing to do is to check with the Synaptics and HP sites that you have the latest drivers installed for the precise model touchpad. Don't assume that Windows has automatically installed the latest or even the correct version - sometimes it uses a generic driver.
